Introducing: StyleByMaori!!!

It is public knowledge that I love when a bride's overall look is spot on! Hair is fab, makeup is fab, dress is fab and accessories are fab too!  So a few years ago I decided to add "bridal styling" into the list of services I provide to my clients ensuring that every aspect of a brides's look is taken care of by me and my glam squad!

StyleByMaori is a subset of Maori, a makeup and style company that focuses strictly on styling brides. What more could a bride ask for? A personal bridal stylist to help select the perfect dress and most sought-after accessories from the best boutiques and stores in select cities in the US, Europe and Africa. StyleByMaori has developed relationships with many bridal salons to offer you the best selection when it comes to dress options, accessories and every bridal detail in between. We know the inventory of dresses in the shops, what’s showing on the runway and how to make your search for the perfect dress seamless. We narrow down your search time based on the details we discuss such as fit, personality, and uniqueness of designers! StyleByMaori will stand by the bride to ensure that she looks amazing on her special day, taking care of all choices for the bride regarding her look.

Lola contacted me because she needed help finding that perfect dress for her upcoming nuptials. She was very specific about what she wanted her dress to look like...a little bit of bling, low back, lace and definitely not a tube dress...wow did I have my work cut out for me! We went to a few bridal stores and ended up at the Priscilla of Boston store (now closed). It so happened that they were closing so the entire store was 50% off! We ended up with 2 dresses within her budget!

Look 1...

Notice that this dress is made of lace, low-back, has a little bling and was definitely not a tube dress...yay! We listen and deliver!
 Look 2...

She wanted something covered for her Nikkai ceremony.

So...for all you future-brides out there reach out to me and I'd be happy to make you look A-mazing on your special day!!

Currently taking clients for 2014 weddings.

Makeover: Neatcards Inc CEO, Lucy Iloenyesi

I have heard people say that people can be a blessing in your life but never really understood it until I met Lucy. Maybe I phrased that wrong...what I mean is, I  have definitely had close family and friends bless me but  not someone who I had met only once in my entire life!

Lucy is extremely creative and big on harnessing other peoples talent (in my opinion) and I absolutely love that about her! She believes that making money should come from your talent and not working in corporate america (amen to that). She makes phenomenal invitations for varying events, customizing them to every clients needs. You can check out her work here http://www.neatcardsinc.com/. Since I met her so many doors have opened up for me...just want to say thanks Lucy!

Before....
 Working on Lucy...
Lucy gave me free rein to make her look beautiful...with no concepts in mind, I just winged it and I loved the end result!

Not sure what I was doing here...I think I just wanted them to get bits of her home office which was fab!
Did I mention that she was creative??? Oh I did in my writeup..lol. Well, it doesn't hurt to say it twice!
I was obsessing over her office and made the photographer take some pictures so I could share with you guys.
Fixing up her hair...yup...I do have some skills with hair :)
Lucy all done

Get the Look: Grey Smokey Eye

Hello everyone!! My apologies for being a way for a few days...I was basking in my 2 seconds of fame! Actually, that's not entirely true...was just extremely busy. Anyways, on to my post...

Ideally, I would love for people that come on my blog to learn a thing or two about makeup application and some of the different products I use on my clients. So, my plan is to share at least once a month, pictures of a client/model I worked on, and how I created their makeup look. Today's look is just all about  creating a grey smokey eye...enjoy!

Model before...

Prepped her skin by using Shiseido oil free moisturizer and Smashbox photofinish. Used a foundation brush and lightly applied MAC Studio Sculpt foundation in NC45 and MAC select cover up in NW35 under the eye area.
Set her foundation using MAC Studio Fix powder in NC40 amd MAC Mineralize Skinfinish pressed powder in Medium Deep around her temple and jaw line.
Used a dark grey eye shadow from my coastal scents palette, MAC Eye shadow in Electra and Carbon all blended together. MAC Eye shadow in Shroom was used in her tear duct and under her brow as a highlighter.
 Eye shadow application complete.
Glued on some falsies by Ardell (can't remember the #) and used the MAC Opulash in Optimum black on her upper and lower lashes.
Cleaned off any excess product on her face and reapplied some more face powder.
Used MAC Eye brow pencil in Spiked to fill in her brows.
For her cheeks, MAC blush in Sweet as Cocoa did the trick! Lined her lips with a MAC lip liner in BBQ and then MAC lipmix in white.
Yandi doing what she does best....
 First look...
Second look...Switched it up a bit by tapping a little bit of MAC Mineralize blush in Gentle on her cheeks and then adding MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick on her lips.

Fox Atlanta Shoot: "The Gathering Season"

Yesterday was loads of fun! I got to work at the Fox 5 Atlanta office bright and early in the morning for a segment that will be aired on Friday, October 18th at 9 am. The segment will feature Alpharetta based stylist, Sue Devos talking about fall trends and how to wear the looks. Makeup was done by me for Sue and  three other models.

I must apologize for not having my regular before and afters but I literally got less than 2 hours to work on all four people, coupled with the fact that I was so excited and focused on getting my work done in time for the shoot to begin. But once my work was done...all my none-existent picture taking skills showed up! Fox 5 TV anchor, Karen Graham actually called me "paparazzi" because I bumped into a couple of the crew members trying to get "the" shot..lol. So bear with me, even though I do not have the before and afters I still have a ton of pictures of us on set to share...Enjoy!

Me and Tonya. She put the whole segment together...thanks Tonya~
For Barbara's makeup I just went for a clean fresh look..Ohh and remember I said "none-existent picture taking skills" hence the reason why the picture above is too bright and the one below is a bit dark!
 Karen, Lucy and Sue
I "heart" Lucy...she inspires me to do great things!! Same makeup concept...clean and fresh. Loved her leather jacket and skirt.
Makeup done by moi for all three hotties...and the guy!
Me and Karen...We decided on a "pop your hip" picture...lol
The crew and Lucy!! Charles "the camera guy" was extremely friendly

The End!

Don't forget to check out the segment this Friday at 9 am!!

God bless xoxo.

Out and About

Lately I've been getting calls for makeup from clients wanting makeup for outings. Typically most makeup requests I get are either for weddings or shoots, so this works perfect for me considering that wedding season is slowly winding down as we head into fall.

One of my clients this weekend was Gail Johnson from Gail Johnson weddings. Check out her website here.
I met Gail about a year ago when I was marketing my services to wedding planners in the Atlanta area. I must say, Gail was extremely nice and pleasant. She is great at what she does and creates spectacular weddings customized to each client. For her makeup, she wanted a look that she could wear for 12 hours, as she was coordinating a wedding that day and wanted to look nice.

Before...

Gail liked the concept of a "cat eye" so I gave her extra long lashes to help create the look without looking like an Egyptian queen
We decided on simple, peachy lips since her eyes had the pop of color...
 Finished Look!
Loved the decor in her office so I figured I'd share...she sure is creative!

She let down her hair...the hair is all hers!

 She looked really pretty...
